The first time I saw snow and ice on my cows, I brushed it off. I was cold just looking at it!
Now I know that cows are well suited to handle the seasons. Highlands and Belties in particular have a double coat that grows thick in the winter and thins out in the summer. When it snows, it sits on the top of the outer layer forming an air pocket that warms up from the cows normal 102 degree body temperature! In fact, in snowy conditions, a cow without a snow cape is a sign that the cow isn't as well conditioned as it should be. #WhatIKnowNow
